30 yrs imprisonment to man for raping minor

Kanpur: A Pocso court in Kannauj has convicted an accused of raping a ten-year-old girl after taking her to a field on his bike on the pretext of dropping her home from the market.
The girl had gone to the market with her elder brother on June 18 2023, when the accused, Dhirendra alias Veerbhan, a resident of Firozpur Taran village, offered to drop her home and made her sit on his bike.
The accused then took the girl to a field outside the village, where he raped her and threatened to kill her if she complained. The girl's father lodged a report at the Sadar Kotwali police station on June 19 2023, following which the police registered a case under sections of rape and the Pocso Act and investigated the matter.
After investigation, a charge sheet was filed in the court.
Special judge Alka Yadav convicted Dhirendra to 30 years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 32000 after a hearing that lasted 14 months.
In case of non-payment of the fine, the accused has been ordered to undergo an additional two years of imprisonment.
