DIMAPUR: One person was swept away by gushing waters of the Nguhaiu river in Noklak district on Monday.
The body of Pushing Khiamniungan (30), a driver by profession from Kengkhaio Kusong village, was recovered on Tuesday. He was swept away by strong current while crossing the river.
Meanwhile, incessant rain and subsequent landslides and floods continued to affect the Chessore area in Shamator district.

The Chessore-Huker-Y Anner Valley, known as the rice bowl, was the worst affected area where almost 60% of paddy fields are under water. The road from Tuensang to Shamator via Y Anner village and Shiponger village was damaged by flood waters. According to an official report, the Muksuk-Ke bridge is also on the verge of collapse. The belly bridge between Shiponger and Leangkonger villages has also been damaged.
