Ludhiana: On Teachers’ Day, government school teachers, under the banner of Democratic Teachers’ Front (DTF), held a district-level protest outside Mini-Secretariat, Ferozepur Road. Raising slogans, they criticised the government’s policies regarding financial demands of teachers and schools. They also expressed their ire against “project-based, irregular and anarchic education.”
Their demands include restoration of old pension scheme and 37 allowances, including rural allowance, release of outstanding installments of dearness allowance, regularisation of computer teachers under societies, NSQF vocational trainers in outsourced companies, teachers of meritorious schools, IERT employees, data-entry operators, accountants working in education offices and all associate teachers in Punjab education department.
They demanded financial and service related benefits as per the 6th Pay Commission and Punjab Civil Service rules.
