Ludhiana: A woman has filed a case against her husband after their pet went missing. She fears that her husband may have either abandoned or killed the pet.
Complainant Jasneet Kaur Bindra said they had a German Shepherd (female), Sheffy, for more than 10 years. The pet, according to the complainant, loved her and her children and she raised her like her own child.
She alleges that her husband had no love for the pet. “Whenever there was a quarrel, he vented his anger on the pet. He used to shove the pet out of the house or threatened to kill her,” she said.
The complainant further said that her husband also beat the pet and that the pet lived in fear.
She added that one fine day they noticed that the right ear of the pet had developed an infection. The pet was admitted to a hospital, where she was supposed to undergo an operation. However, on the day when the pet was to be discharged, she went home to find that the pet was nowhere to be found.
When she asked her husband, he gave no reply. Speaking to TOI, Jasneet Kaur said after pestering, her husband told her he left Sheffy in a Ferozepur-bound train as she was suffering from ear infection that might have infected others. She said that her husband later changed his version and claimed that he left Sheffy in a Chandigarh-bound train.
The complainant said she scanned CCTV cameras near the house and found that on July 30 at about 5.37 am, her husband went out with the pet and returned home alone just 20 minutes later. She said she has sent pictures of her pet to acquaintances in Chandigarh and Ferozepur.
City Jagraon police have booked the accused.
