Mangaluru: Uppinangady police arrested an inter-district thief and a member of the notorious Garuda gang on charges of theft of iron sheets on Tuesday.
The accused had been allegedly absconding after committing the theft of iron sheets meant for the National Highway-75 four-lane project.
The arrested accused is Abdul Hameed, alias Hameed,27, from Kayarthadka in Sunkadakatte in Kadaba taluk.
He had also carried out thefts in Kaukradi and Bedrodi. There are dacoity, theft, and abetment to suicide cases lodged against the arrested accused in Chikkamagaluru, Gonibeedu, Davangere, Gangolli, Sakleshpur, Mangaluru North, Kadaba, Belthangady, and other police stations.
