2 held for robbing Meerut businessman’s home
MEERUT: Two men have been arrested by Meerut police for allegedly robbing a businessman’s house in the Nuchandi area of Meerut, police said on Tuesday.
Gaurav Kumar, 24, of Baghpat, and Abhishek Sharma, 22, from Shamli, robbed the home of Chandra Mohan Goyal, a businessman and BJP functionary, on June 27. They escaped with nearly Rs 2 lakhs in cash and other valuables. The duo held the family of three at knifepoint and locked them in a room before fleeing.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV.
Meerut SP(city) Ayush Vikram Singh said, “Gaurav’s sister works as a nurse at Goyal’s house, and he had visited the house about eight months ago. Recently, he lost money in the stock market and was under debt. He remembered his sister mentioning that her employer trusted her and had given her Rs 2 lakhs for safekeeping.”
“On June 26, when Gaurav’s sister visited home, he and Abhishek went to Goyal’s house to rob it. Unable to identify the house, he used a video his sister had posted on a social media platform to locate it. The accused were produced before the court and sent to jail,” he added.
