NAVI MUMBAI: Caught making out with her boyfriend, a 20-year-old woman allegedly murdered her mother at their house in a Raigad village recently. The woman and her 34-year-old boyfriend have been arrested. The crime came to light after the woman's younger sister, who too was at home at the time, confided in relatives.
Raigad superintendent of police Somnath Gharge said that Sangita Zore (42), a resident of Parkhande village in Khalapur taluka, who was asleep with her 18-year-old daughter, Surekha, woke up early on Sept 10 after hearing a noise.
She found her elder daughter, Bharti Zore, and her boyfriend, Santosh Nandgaonkar, making out and raised an alarm.
Bharti and Nandgaonkar allegedly then suffocated her to death with a blanket while holding down her legs. To cover up their crime, they allegedly hanged her by a sari from a ceiling rod in the kitchen to give the impression that she had died by suicide. They reportedly even placed a wooden stool under the body to hoodwink police.
Gharge said initially, an accidental death case was registered at Khalapur police station on Sept 12. "But, during the probe, it was learnt that Surekha had told her relatives that she had witnessed her elder sister and her boyfriend killing her mother. A a
murder case was registered and Bharti and Nandgaonkar were arrested on Saturday."
