Mysuru: Minutes after the governor granted prosecution sanction against chief minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday, Congress activists launched protests across Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, and other places of the Old Mysuru region, condemning the governor’s action. They launched ‘Governor go back’ protests, alleging he was working to destabilise the state govt blessed by the people.

Members of OBC, minorities, and Dalit organisations, led by Karnataka Backward Classes Awareness Forum president KS Shivaramu, burnt tyres and carried out a semi-nude protest. Shivaramu alleged that the governor was trying to destabilise the Siddaramaiah govt and trying to bring the BJP govt bak to power through the backdoor.
Meanwhile, the Congress activists stormed JLB Road while ex-MP Pratap Simmha was talking to mediapersons here. They raised slogans against the governor in front of Simmha, who countered them, saying if the CM had surrendered the sites, the issue would not have taken this turn.
Congress activists also staged protests in KR Nagar, Hunsur, HD Kote, and other taluk headquarters.
In Mandya, hundreds of Congress activists held a protest, raising ‘Governor go back’ slogans. The agitators urged BJP to stop its efforts to return to power illegally.
BJP MLA welcomes guv’s decision
Krishnaraja BJP MLA TS Srivatsa welcomed the governor’s decision to prosecute the CM. “I don’t know if CM Siddaramaiah has committed a mistake or not, but the way in which sites were allotted was wrong. I had advised the CM to take action against the officials concerned, but he didn’t act. Now, the truth has won,” he said. “If the Muda commissioner was placed under suspension, Siddaramaiah may have not faced this situation,” the MLA added.
