1,022 flood-hit moved to higher ground: Fadnavis
Nagpur: The flash floods in Gondia district hit 281 cattle sheds, livestock, and poultry in a big way.
The administration has called in two SDRF teams to trace Kiran Agrawal and perform other rescue and relief operations. Agrawal’s son passed away while her husband Anil came out safely after strong currents of the floodwaters swept away their house on Tuesday.
District collector Prajit Nair told TOI that a fisherman died in Itiadoh dam while another person passed away after falling into a flooded pit in Amgaon.

In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said he has reviewed the last two-day rainfall status in Nagpur division. He has asked officials to carry out panchnama of the damage immediately.
“Bagh, Wainganga, and Bawanthadi rivers are flooded in Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Bhandara districts. Two have died in Gondia district. 1,022 people in these three districts have been shifted to safe places. A total of 47 routes, including 35 alone in Gondia district, are shut. The intensity of rain has reduced and the water is receding slowly,” the post read.
Fadnavis stated that 2 units of SDRF and 3 units of local disaster management teams have been kept ready to deal with any situation. Disaster management teams are also ready at Gadchiroli, Bhamragad, and Sironcha.

Bothli village in Lakhandur taluka of Bhandara district too was submerged in river water. A pregnant woman had to be rescued after her health deteriorated. The search and rescue team rescued the pregnant woman and 7 others safely with the help of a boat.

A woman was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road, another woman died after her husband lost control of their bike near Bharathipuram toll plaza, and a man was killed when his two-wheeler collided with a TNSTC bus. Police have registered cases for all incidents.
