Patna: With 48 new dengue cases registered across the state in the last 24 hours,
Bihar’s total infections this year rose to 1,774. Patna district scored highest with 36 fresh dengue cases reported in the last 24 hours, while the total infection this year rose to 832. The state saw a 30.7% rise in the dengue cases in the last six days with 546 infections, while the capital city experienced a 31.4% increase during the same period, with 229 patients testing positive.
Apart from Patna, five fresh cases were reported from Madhepura district, three in Saran, and one each from Lakhisarai, Nalanda, Supaul and Vaishali districts. The Patna district registered an average of 35-60 daily cases over the past one week. As many as 40 positive cases were found on Sunday, 46 on Saturday, 59 on Friday, 37 on Thursday and 44 on Wednesday.
As per the data shared by the health department, a total of 21 cases of dengue have been reported from January 1 to June 30, whereas 811 in the last two-and-half months (since July 1).
Presently, 51 dengue patients are admitted at various medical facilities, including govt and private.
According to the officials, nine patients are getting treatment at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital-Patna, two at PMCH and remaining 40 at different private hospitals.
So far, three people have died in Patna and seven across the state, including one each in Bhagalpur, Jamui, Jehanabad and Madhubani.
The district health authorities have identified over 20 dengue affected areas in Patna, including Bhoothnath Road, Begumpur, Ashok Nagar, Transport Nagar, Lohanipur, Jakkanpur, Samanpura, Sri Krishna Puri, Indirapuri, Mehndiganj and Khusrupur.
Subhash Chandra Prasad, in-charge of vector-borne diseases, said continuous monitoring was being done to control the spread of dengue fever in the city. “Health workers are cleaning up the mosquito-breeding ground on a war footing. Fogging is being carried out by the municipal bodies at the affected areas while larvisides are also being sprayed to prevent mosquito breeding as per the protocol,” he said.
