I will continue to voice the demands of the common public here,” Durai Vaiko said at a public rally in Koothaippar town in Thiruverumbur on Wednesday to thank voters for electing him. Crediting the victory to the support of DMK ministers including K N Nehru and Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, MDMK’s principal secretary said that schemes of the DMK govt have helped him taste success in his electoral debut.
The MP said he has spoken four times in Parliament on various issues including revival of PSUs such as Golden Rock railway workshop, High Energy Projectile Factory (HEPF) and to reintroduce concessions in ticket fares for senior citizens in train journeys. “When I was elected from Thiruverumbur assembly constituency in 2021, the victory margin was 49,676 votes. But, in the general election, the winning margin of our MP candidate here has increased to 69,867 votes. It is a testimony to the good governance of our govt. Our MP will use the constituency development fund to improve basic amenities here,” he said.TNN
