YouTube increases Premium plan prices, but why users in India should not worry

YouTube has reportedly increased the prices of its Premium plans in multiple countries. According to a report by Android Authority, the new pricing has already started appearing for some users. However, the latest price hike won’t affect users in India or the US and is mainly targeted towards countries in Europe and South America as well as some nations in Asia and the Middle East.It's important to note that the Google-owned streaming platform already announced an increase in the prices of its Premium plans in India earlier this year.

As per the report, several Reddit users have noticed the latest price hike which is expected to affect customers in the following countries:

The report noted that the biggest single plan price increase was in Norway, where prices went up 42%. YouTube Premium in Norway used to cost nearly $11.33 (nearly Rs 950) per month, but now it has gone over $16 (nearly Rs 1,340). In Sweden, the family plan which was available at around $17.57 (nearly Rs 1,470) now costs $27.38 (Rs 2,290) per month. On average, single person plans have increased by nearly 18%, while family plans are up by 43%.

In August, YouTube Premium became more expensive in India, with Google implementing price increases across all subscription tiers, including Student, Individual, and Family plans.
