The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) encourages citizens to review and update their Aadhaar card details, especially for those who obtained their cards over a decade ago.

In Meerut, retired government bank clerk Suraj Prakash and his wife fell victim to a cyber scam where criminals posed as CBI and RBI officials. They were tricked into transferring Rs 1.7 crore over five days after being falsely accused of money laundering using fake documents. The incident began on September 17 when Prakash received a call claiming his Aadhaar card was used for illegal transactions. Realizing the fraud on September 22, he contacted the police who have since registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the matter.

The Aadhaar card, a crucial identity document for Indian residents, can be susceptible to misuse if stolen or lost. To protect oneself, residents should regularly check their authentication history on the myAadhaar portal, lock their biometrics, and promptly report any suspicious activities to UIDAI. Masked Aadhaar and attested photocopies are recommended for added security.

Two individuals were apprehended for transferring Rs 3.9 crore and attempting to swindle another Rs 9 crore from a Noida Authority account. The key suspect, Manu Bhola, has been engaged in fraudulent activities for over ten years. Authorities seized various forged documents and are investigating potential involvement of bank officials.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free online updates to Aadhaar card details until December 14, 2024. This extension benefits millions of Aadhaar holders by allowing them to update their information without any charges on the myAadhaar portal.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday informed that the centre has directed UIDAI to issue Aadhaar cards to people who gave their biometrics between February 2019 to August 2024.

The fraud came to light when a Kharghar resident discovered her application was approved with another mobile number. An inquiry commenced but no FIR has been filed.

An elderly woman was scammed of 5.6 crore by cyber criminals posing as Mumbai police officers. They falsely accused her of being involved in a money laundering case linked to Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra, coercing her to transfer her money to 'public fund accounts.' The fraud was revealed when she informed her son.

July 31 is the last day to submit Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the financial year 2023-24. Many taxpayers experienced glitches on the e-filing portal, raising concerns for an extension. Tax demands were issued for PAN cards that were not linked to Aadhaar by May 31, 2024. Over 5.70 crore ITRs were submitted by July 30.
