Sundargarh villagers celebrate festival together
Rourkela: At least 163 families of Jhurimal and people from nearby villages in Lephripada block of Sundargarh district, continued their 12-year tradition of celebrating Nuakhai together, on Sunday. Preparations for the festival began in Jhurimal two weeks ago. Celebrations commenced with the offering of newly harvested to deities and ancestors. Thereafter, traditional cultural programmes and games were organised.

Villagers sat together to share the new rice and a variety of food items. Towards the end of the day, ‘Juhar Bhet’ took place where villagers sought blessings from their elders.TNN
