1 more arrested 2 months after CDR racket busted
New Delhi: Following the busting of a call detail record (CDR) selling racket in July, Delhi Police's Crime Branch has made a second arrest. A private detective, Tarun Vincent Daniel, had been arrested earlier in the case. The accused was identified as Harsh, Daniel's aide and a resident of Shahdara. Police arrested Daniel in July and during his questioning, Harsh's name surfaced.

"We also found money transactions between Daniel and Harsh," a senior officer said.
Following the investigation, Harsh, who works for a south Delhi-based detective agency, was arrested from Shahdara by a team formed by DCP Rakesh Paweriya. The accused told cops that for the past one and a half years, he had been taking CDR details from Daniel and selling them further to his clients. He said that the gang had sold more than 100 CDRs so far. Most of these CDRs were related to husband-wife disputes.
"Harsh might be acting as a middleman between the detective agency and clients," a police officer said.
Sources said that one more suspect, named Sanjay Chaudhary, had been asked to join the investigation. The name of one Arjun, a Bengaluru resident, has also cropped up during the probe.
TOI had reported about the case on July 21.
The case came to light on June 29. Law enforcement authorities acted upon a tip that a group of individuals, masquerading as a detective agency, were involved in the unlawful acquisition and trade of CDRs belonging to unsuspecting citizens. "The gang used to charge the amount depending upon the gravity of the case," the officer said.

Police said in order to unearth the racket, they sent a decoy customer who contacted Daniel. "The deal for the CDR was finalised for Rs 60,000 and Rs 29,000 was transferred to the accused's wallet as an advance payment. A day later, the CDR was sent to the WhatsApp of the decoy customer," the officer added.
The customer agreed to pay the remaining amount in cash on July 18 near the Dwarka Mor metro station. A trap was laid at the metro station and Daniel was nabbed. He told cops that he had supplied unauthorised CDRs to over 100 people, including an acquaintance in Shahdara. Police recovered a phone from his house.
