Man treated for cancer without stoma bag in city
Gurgaon: A 53-year-old Indian-origin man residing in the UK, diagnosed with stage one rectal cancer, discovered a life-altering solution at a hospital in the city.
The patient was initially advised to undergo radiation and chemotherapy in the UK. The recommended treatment plan involved radiation and chemotherapy, along with the excision of his rectum, necessitating a permanent stoma bag for stool passage.

He then travelled to India and visited CK Birla Hospital.
Dr Vinay Samuel Gaikwad, director (surgical oncology) at the hospital, said: "We opted for TAMIS procedure as this technology is cost-effective, abbreviates hospital stay and diminishes morbidity. Had it not been for TAMIS, the surgery would have left a long incision besides posing the risk of infection and complications."
