CM will go to jail in Muda case: Shettar
Belagavi: Former chief minister and Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar claimed that chief minister Siddaramaiah will definitely go to jail in the Muda case. “He will be indicted in the Muda case and legal action will be initiated against him,” he said.
Shettar was speaking after inaugurating the newly opened district (rural) office of BJP near Dharmanath Bhavan here on Monday. “I have studied all angles of the Muda case.
1x1 polls
Being a lawyer, I can say there are several clear irregularities in the case and Siddaramaiah is guilty. He escaped in the Arkavathy Layout denotification case but has no chance in this case. Although Congress leaders and workers are expressing their support to Siddaramaiah, many leaders are very happy and the result of that will come out soon,” he said.
Shettar argued that the controversial land was denotified during the Congress govt. “The land was given to Siddaramaiah’s wife as agricultural land through a gift deed. However, at that time the land had already been developed. Another violation is, that when Muda introduced a 50:50 ratio of land with farmers, the land share of Siddaramaiah’s wife was not given at the same land. The 14 alternative sites for the land were given in Vijayanagar Layout developed the 10 years ago. Moreover, Siddaramaiah showed the cost of the land as Rs 6 to 10 crores in the election affidavit. Now, he is asking for compensation of Rs 66 crore,” he said. On claims that alternative land was given during the BJP govt, he said, “This is an exceptional case in which the alternative sites were approved at the Muda commissioner’s level, without bringing it to the notice of the urban development department. The BJP govt would be only responsible when it happened at the govt level.”
