Belagavi: In line with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) recently spearheaded a cleanliness campaign conducted by all ranks of the regiment, exemplifying a strong call to action for hygiene and sanitation.
A key highlight of the drive was the collaborative clean-up organised by the Army and the local residents of Savgaon to restore the Savgaon Lake, a location used for the immersion of Ganesh idols.
The coordinated efforts of both the military and the villagers led to a remarkable transformation of the lake and its surroundings. The area was restored to a pristine condition, reflecting the collective commitment to both community service and environmental responsibility. Troops also undertook the weeding and maintenance of bunds around the lake, further contributing to the clean-up efforts.
The captains of the MLIRC said that the Indian Army continues to demonstrate its dedication to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, adopting a holistic approach to nation-building.
