Hyderabad: The much-awaited expansion of the state cabinet will be taken up by the end of the month as chief minister A
Revanth Reddy and new TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud have been told by the AICC leadership to return to New Delhi next week to finalise cabinet berths and the new team of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC).
Though Revanth and Goud had gone to New Delhi on Wednesday, the cabinet berths and PCC team could not be finalised as AICC leader Rahul Gandhi was not available.
However, the CM met AICC general secretary KC Venugopal and later told the media in the national capital that the new TPCC chief will be consulted before expanding the cabinet.
While CM Revanth returned to Hyderabad, stating he would be meeting Union home minister Amit Shah only after the central team submits its report on losses in Telangana due to rain and flood fury, Mahesh Goud is expected to be back in the city on Friday night. Mahesh Goud told TOI that he will try to ensure that the new team of PCC will comprise 50% from BC, SC, ST, minorities, and young leaders as per the AICC resolution adopted in Chhattisgarh.
“I will not make unilateral decisions on the new TPCC team. I will consult important senior leaders from all the communities in the party and finalise the team. The cabinet berths will be finalised at the AICC level,” he said.
Mahesh Goud is expected to formally take charge as the new TPCC president on Sunday. His appointment to lead the party in the state has been welcomed by all sections of leaders in the Congress and various BC, SC, ST, and minorities associations.
Thousands of party leaders and cadres and representatives of BC and other caste associations have been meeting Goud after his appointment to the top post in the state Congress. He has been widely accepted to lead the party due to his nearly 35-year association with the Congress.
