Chief minister Revanth tells officials to submit report on Metro expansion work by Dasara
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to give him a detailed project report (DPR) before Dasara on all the proposed Metro expansion routes including the corridor from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad to the ‘future city' in Mucherla.
The CM held a review meeting with representatives of Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMRL), officials of municipal administration and urban development, GHMC commissioner K Amrapali, HMDA commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, Rangareddy and Hyderabad collectors, and other senior officials at his residence-cum-camp office in Jubilee Hills on Tuesday.

The officials briefed him on the various aspects related to Metro expansion plans from LB Nagar to Hayathnagar, Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station to Chandrayangutta, and from Chandrayangutta to Shamshabad airport.
"Ensure that Metro corridor work in the Old City is expedited. If there are land acquisition problems or other obstacles in Old City, officials should pay special attention and resolve them through consultations at the earliest," he said.
In March this year, the CM along with AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi and HMRL managing director NVS Reddy had laid the foundation stone for the Old City Metro project in Falaknuma. The CM had said that the Congress govt was committed to expanding the next phase of Metro to different parts of city, including the Old City, linking it to the international airport for the benefit of common man. He has said on multiple occasions that Metro extension is to ensure that the poor and middle class benefit from the project.
The Old City Metro corridor is the leftover section from the first phase commissioned in 2017 across three traffic corridors – Red Line from LB Nagar to Miyapur, Blue Line from Nagole to Raidurg, and Green Line from JBS to MGBS – covering about 69 km.
It is expected to cost about Rs 2,000 crore and around 1,100 properties will be affected in the stretch as the road will have to be widened to 100 ft.
The CM has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi too on a couple of occasions for central govt's financial assistance for Metro expansion and also for Musi Riverfront Project. Revanth also submitted a memorandum to PM Modi during the latter's visits to Hyderabad.
