IMPHAL: A woman from
Manipur’s Senapati district who returned from Delhi recently has tested positive for Covid-19. The health authorities sent her sample to the National Institute of Virology, Pune on Friday morning for genome sequencing to ascertain the types of variants.
“We expect to get the results by Monday. Even if the samples test positive for the new JN.1 variant, there is no need to panic as it is not fatal though it spreads fast,” said Manipur health director Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, adding that the infected woman is now fine without any health issues.
The woman took a flight from the national capital to Dimapur in Nagaland from where she came to her village in a bus.
She tested positive on Thursday.
