Civic polls scheduled this yr to be postponed
Jaipur: The state govt will conduct elections for all urban local bodies simultaneously in 2025, urban development and housing (UDH) minister Jhabar Singh Kharra said. Urban local body elections for Bharatpur, Bikaner, Pali, Alwar, and Udaipur nagar nigams, which were scheduled for this year, will be held next year.
Elections for 16 municipal councils and 28 municipal boards will also not be held this year.

The terms of these municipalities will end in Nov. Their terms will be extended by six months or more, and administrators will be appointed.
As a part of ‘One State, One Election’ policy, the state govt is planning to conduct panchayat and urban body elections together. Therefore, elections for the 91 municipalities whose terms end in 2026 will be advanced.
Elections for 56 municipalities, including Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Kota, will occur on schedule. tnn
