Jammu is one of the five parliamentary constituencies in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, it was created in 1967. It includes eighteen new constituencies for the parliamentary assembly. Jammu constituency went into polling in the second phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, on April 26th. Voter turnout was recorded at 72% which is a slight decrease from the last election when it was 2019.

BJP's Jugal Kishore won against INC's Raman Bhalla with a vote margin of 1,35,498.

In the past, the Congress party has dominated this area, taking nine of the fifteen elections held since 1957. Only twice, in 1957 and the 2002 by-election, has a Muslim candidate prevailed in three elections won by the BJP. Ramban Bhalla, the functioning president of the J-K Congress unit, and incumbent BJP MP Jugal Kishore Sharma are expected to face off directly in the election. Two more well-known candidates for the seat are BSP's Jagdish Raj and Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal's Ankur Sharma.

With a 20.48% victory margin, BJP candidate Jugal Kishore emerged victorious in the 2019 parliamentary elections. Jugal Kishore overcame INC's Raman Bhalla with a victory margin of 3,02,875 votes, securing 8,58,066 votes .Raman Bhalla of the INC got 5,55,191 votes
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections for the Jammu constituency, the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Jugal Kishore emerged victorious, securing 619,995 votes, which amounted to an impressive 49.63% vote share. Kishore's victory was decisive, with a resounding lead of 257,280 votes over his closest rival. The Indian National Congress (INC) candidate, Madan Lal Sharma, had to settle for the runner-up position, garnering 362,715 votes, which translated to a 29.04% vote share.
