Meerut: A 22-year-old woman drowned after accidentally falling into the Kali river in Pahasu area of Bulandshahr on Saturday.
Police said BA final-year student Rashmi Meena, a resident of Nagla Ghanshyam village, was collecting vegetables from the field when she slipped into the river.
Rashmi’s uncle, Arjun Kumar, said, “Due to the rain, the soil was soggy, and she slipped into the river.”
SHO Pahasu, Ashok Kumar Singh, said, “Nearly 48 hours have passed since the incident, and the body is yet to be found.
Due to heavy rainfall in the past two days, the river is overflowing. We have searched nearly 2km from the spot where she drowned.”
