Bus cleaner held for inappropriately touching schoolgirl

Mumbai: A bus cleaner, in his sixties, was arrested by the Samta Nagar police on Thursday for allegedly inappropriately touching an underage female student inside a school bus. The incident occurred on Monday while the student was travelling home by the bus.
The girl was scared after the incident. She confided in her mother subsequently. Her mother approached the school management, who approached the police.The accused was taken into custody soon after the complaint was lodged on Thursday. He was booked under the Pocso Act. He is a Kandivali resident, police said.
In a separate case, the watchman of a housing society was arrested by the Charkop police for inappropriately touching and kissing a teenage girl in the society lift. Police said the incident occurred on Wednesday when the duo was inside the lift. Police said the girl was running an errand for her family. She was returning home from a provision store after purchasing groceries. Soon after she entered the lift, the watchman followed her under the pretext of talking to her.
The 17-year-old victim was terrified after the incident and complained to her parents, who approached the police. A case was lodged under the Pocso Act. The watchman slipped out of the society and left the city after learning of an FIR being lodged by the police. A special team was formed to look for him. He was tracked down to Virar and arrested on Friday.
