MUMBAI: Two brothers, aged 14 and 17, were bound and assaulted, tonsured, stripped and paraded in a Juhu slum on suspicion of theft on Monday morning.
The incident came to light after the accused filmed the incident and uploaded the video on social media, which soon went viral.
Juhu police have arrested Naidu Nagar slum resident Suraj Patwa (22), the alleged main accused, and are looking for his three accomplices after the boys' 60-year-old grandmother filed a complaint.

"In the video, Patwa and three others are seen assaulting the teenagers after tying up their hands and legs, tonsuring them after confining them for a few hours, and later parading them naked in Naidu Nagar before letting them go after a stern warning to stay away from the area," said an officer from Juhu police station.
Police have also made a diary entry against the two brothers, who live in the adjoining Nehru Nagar slum with their grandmother, in connection with the theft complaint. The duo will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, said the police officer.
According to the police, Patwa and others had caught the boys committing theft in the area on several occasions in the past, but the latter would be released as they are minors. On Monday, between 3am and 9am, when the brothers went to Naidu Nagar slum and were caught by Patwa and three others, the accused decided to teach them a lesson by using extreme measures.
Police registered a case against Patwa and others under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bombay Children Act and Information Technology Act, based on the grandmother's complaint.
In her complaint, the grandmother said, "I learned about the incident only at 7pm, when my nephew told me that Naidu Nagar residents had assaulted my grandchildren on suspicion that they were thieves. My nephew showed me the video on Facebook in which my grandchildren's hands and legs were tied up, they were repeatedly assaulted and manhandled, their heads were half-shaved and were later paraded naked." She added that her grandchildren are still reeling from the shocking incident.
