Mysuru: House surgeons at KR Hospital on Friday continued their
protest demanding various facilities even as they condemned attacks on doctors on duty.
The house surgeons numbering around 250 held a dharna between 9am and 4pm seeking an early solution for their problem. They are demanding an increase in their allowances, and better working conditions. They also protested against increasing crimes against medical professionals.
As the agitating house surgeons boycotted the OPD, the hospital staff managed the outpatient services.
Nagarahole gets first woman directorMysuru: Nagarahole tiger reserve has got its first woman director in Seema PA, an IFS officer of the 2017 batch. She took charge on Friday. Before the Nagarahole posting, she was serving as the DCF, Hunsur in Mysuru district. The tiger reserve, which is spread over Mysuru and Kodagu districts, has the second highest number of tigers in the state after Bandipur tiger reserve. A native of Kodagu, Seema served in Mysuru and Kodagu districts. Seema pursued an MSc in forestry.
Special drive to verify voter list from Aug 20
Mysuru: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has declared the dates for a special drive to verify the voter’s list, which will take place from Aug 20 to Oct 18. The drive will focus on the inclusion and deletion of names from the list. Individuals who will turn 18 by Jan 1, 2025, are also eligible to add their names to the list during this period. Throughout the drive, citizens can make changes by completing the appropriate ECI forms. (Form No.6: Inclusion of names in the voters’ list; Form No.7: Deletion of names from voters’ list; Form No.8: Correction in voters’ list; Form No. 8(a): Change of address in the same Assembly Segment, and adding recent photos) Alternatively, they can make changes using the Voter Helpline application.
Booth level officers will conduct door-to-door visits during the drive. People have until Oct 29, 2024, to file objections related to the voters’ list, which will be verified by Dec 24.
