Mys dist admin forms 19 Dasara subcommittees
Mysuru: Seven weeks ahead of Mysuru Dasara celebrations, which is scheduled from Oct 3 to 12, the district administration has constituted 19 different subcommittees for the smooth conduct of the 10-day festival, which attracts crowds in lakhs.
With chief minister Siddaramaiah directing the authorities concerned and his cabinet colleagues to organise the festival on a grand scale, the authorities nominated official members to the subcommittees.

This follows a meeting by district in-charge minister HC Mahadevappa on Friday.
Mysuru DC Lakshmikanta Reddy formed Dasara subcommittees to organise the Dasara 2024 in a grand way. Accordingly, additional deputy commissioner Shivaraj P is Dasara deputy special officer (DDSO) to the welcoming, invitation and reception subcommittee, and commissioner of police Seema Latkar is DDSO to the procession and torch-light parade subcommittees, while Malathi Priya is DDSO to Gajapayana.
DDSOs of other subcommittees are: Tableaux - Prabhuswamy, chief planning officer (in-charge), ZP; Grameena Dasara - Krishnamraju, deputy secretary (development); Sports – Prasanna Kumar VK, secretary, Mysore urban development department; Cultural Dasara – KM Gayathri, CEO, ZP; Fine arts – Devaraju A, commissioner for archaeology, museums and heritage; Illumination - G Sheela, MD, CESC; Kavigosti – Mallikarjuna Swamy, joint director, Kannada and Culture department; Yoga Dasara – Ramya, deputy director, land records department; Yuva Sambramha and Yuva Dasara – Vishnuvardhana N, superintendent of police, Mysuru; Mahila Dasara – Priyadarshini K, joint director, administrative training institute; Food festival – AN Raghunandan, commissioner, Muda; Cleanliness & Arrangements – Ashaad-Ur-Rehaman Sheriff, commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation; Films – Basavaraju KN, DCF, Mysuru; and Wrestling – Addl superintendent of police, Mysuru. tnn

37 victims of child marriage become pregnant in Mysuru
In Mysuru, 37 children married before the legal age have become pregnant in the last 10 months. Authorities filed FIRs under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and Pocso Act. Most cases were reported in Mysuru city and taluk. The Child Welfare Committee is taking action against families involved.
