Follow five mantras to control crime: DGP
Patna: Asserting that Bihar has registered a decline in the number of criminal incidents, director general of police (DGP) Alok Raj on Tuesday gave a five-point agenda to his officers to maintain law and order in the state.
“The state has registered a decrease in the number of criminal incidents and masses need to change their perception. Focus on five points to control crime in the state — prevention, prediction, detection, prosecution and perception,” he said while holding a review meeting over law and order ahead of the upcoming festivals.

The review by the DGP comes barely two days after CM Nitish Kumar held a meeting over law and order at his official residence, which was not attended by the former.
The DGP directed the officers, including those who joined virtually, to be on alert in view of the upcoming festivals and adopt “zero-tolerance policy” towards communal violence.
Seeking to put a curb on organised crimes such as loot, dacoity and kidnapping, the DGP advised the officers to address the people’s complaints instantly to maintain public confidence in the police.
“Act tough against serious crimes. To create fear among criminals, it’s necessary to ensure they get punishment under law. Ensure speedy trials by submitting charge sheets on time and remain sensitive towards the victims of crime,” he directed the officers, saying “police sashakt nahin hogi to apradhiyon ke beech kanoon ka dar nahi rahega (criminals will not fear law if police are not empowered)”.

Prominent among those who attended the meeting included DGP (BSAP) A K Ambedkar, ADG (headquarters) Jitendra Singh Gangwar, DGP (technical and wireless services) Nirmal Kumar Azad, ADG (anti-terrorist squad) Pankaj Darad and ADG (weaker sections) Amit Kumar Jain.
