Bastar's Yuvraj wins gold at world muay thai c’ship in Bangkok
Raipur: Representing India, Bastar's Yuvraj Singh won a gold medal at the World Muay Thai Championship in Bangkok. Yuvraj, the only player from Chhattisgarh, competed in the 14-15 age group and 81+ weight category as part of a 25-member Indian Muay Thai team, which included 17 athletes. The championship was organised in Bangkok, Thailand, from Sept 12 to 19.
The event, recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and organised under the auspices of the United Muay Thai Association India (UMAI), saw participation from 140 countries and 4,300 athletes.

The 15-year-old Yuvraj of Jagdalpur, Bastar, who has been representing India at international championships in his weight category for the past seven years, has now brought global recognition to Chhattisgarh and Bastar. Yuvraj is the only athlete from Chhattisgarh to have been selected for this world championship.
Earlier, from Aug 9-21, 2022, Yuvraj had won a bronze medal at the World Youth Muay Thai Championship in Malaysia, representing India, and later represented the country at the European Championship in Antalya, Turkey, from Sept 29 to Oct 8, 2023.
