Raipur: A 25-year-old married woman was arrested for abduction and sexual exploitation of a 16-year-old boy in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh. The woman had taken the minor to Haryana.
Jashpur SP Shashi Mohan Singh said that the boy left home on Aug 22 saying he was going to watch a football match and did not return home. The worried parents searched for him in the neighbourhood and among relatives, but they could not find him.
They waited for a day or two for him to return and when he didn't, the parents approached police on Aug 27 and a missing report was lodged at Kunkuri police station.
The SP told reporters that a team was formed and search was launched in the region with help from the cyber cell. During the probe, it was found that the woman was also missing from the same day as the boy.
Sensing some connection between the two, police tried tracing the woman, and cyber cell informed that she was in Haryana. Based on the input, police tried to connect with Haryana police and got to know that she was living with the minor boy in a rented room. A police team was then sent to Haryana and the woman was nabbed and the minor boy rescued.
It came to the fore that the woman had been sexually assaulting the boy, whom she came in touch with six months ago. She showed him a rosy picture of getting to spend time in seclusion without any disturbance from outsiders and had convinced him to go to Haryana.
Woman was arrested under the POCSO Act and sent on judicial remand on Thursday.
