NEW DELHI: Recent floods in Jamnagar have prompted extensive rescue and relief efforts, according to Jamnagar Collector Bhavin Pandya. He stated that multiple agencies, under the guidance of
Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel, helped in these efforts.
Speaking to the media, Pandya said, "We did the rescue and relief operation of people who are affected by floods in Jamnagar with the help of various agencies.
We had the direction of our CM. In record time, within a week, we provided relief to the people. We have provided help worth more than Rs 20 crore worth relief materials to the people."
During the heavy rains last month, the Jamnagar administration managed to move 15,000 to 20,000 people to relief camps. A bridge over Sir PN Road was also damaged, impacting commuter movement.
In response, six columns of the
Indian Army conducted rescue operations at the request of the Gujarat government. chief minister Bhupendra Patel held review meetings with district collectors and municipal commissioners to ensure prompt relocation, availability of supplies, and proper functioning of relief kitchens.
Patel advised residents to follow disaster management guidelines for their safety. chief Secretary Raj Kumar also suggested that officials stay alert to Meteorological Department warnings and prepare accordingly.
