Visakhapatnam: At a public grievance redressal system (PGRS) programme held in Parvathipuram on Monday, the local lorry owners' association, led by president GV Ramana, requested the construction of new bridges in the region.
The association submitted a representation to the minister of women and child welfare and tribal welfare, Gummidi Sandhya Rani, requesting bridges at Paradi in Bobbili mandal, Seethamagaram, and Kotipam in Komarada mandal.
Responding to the request, the minister directed roads and buildings department officials to submit proposals and assess road conditions in the district.
During the programme, the minister also attended to other grievances, including that of Marada Jagannadham, a disabled resident from Singanapuram village in Jiyyammavalasa mandal. Jagannadham, who is currently receiving a ₹3,000 medical pension, was brought to the PGRS on a cot. Moved by his situation, minister Sandhya Rani instructed district medical and health officer Dr K Vijaya Parvathi to increase his pension to ₹15,000.
Emphasising the importance of addressing public grievances effectively, the minister urged officials to ensure that every concern is handled with care and diligence.
"The public approach the PGRS with great hope and confidence, which must not be misplaced. People travel long distances to submit grievances, and their resolution can bring immense relief," she said.
Speaking to the media, Sandhya Rani said that land-related issues were the most common grievances raised, followed by family disputes. She urged officials to address family issues at the local level and appealed for unity and strong family bonds.
