Gujarat: Average value of ministers’ assets up from Rs 13 crore to Rs 33 crore in 5 years
AHMEDABAD: An analysis of the election affidavits of the 17 cabinet ministers of Gujarat by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) revealed that the average value of their declared assets is Rs 32.7 crore.
In 2017, it was Rs 13.3 crore, which reduced to Rs 3.9 crore in the cabinet in 2021.
The only minister with asset value of over Rs 100 crore is Balvantsinh Rajput at Rs 327 crore. Apart from Bachu Khabad, with the lowest asset value at Rs 93 lakh, all other ministers possess assets valued at more than Rs 1 crore.
Kanu Desai, 71, is the oldest minister, whereas Harsh Sanghavi, 37, is the youngest. Kanu Desai and Raghavji Patel have LLB degrees, whereas Kunvarji Halpati has a BEd degree. The other graduates include Balvantsinh Rajput, Bhanu Babaria and Praful Pansheriya.
CM Bhupendra Patel, Parshottam Solanki and Rushikesh Patel have diplomas, whereas other ministers have studied up to class 12.
Four of the 17 ministers have declared criminal cases against them, whereas one minister has declared serious criminal cases against him.
