Tollywood star
Jr NTR recently addressed how Bollywood and the South Indian film industry differ in their work culture and setup. During a promotional chat with
Alia Bhatt and
Karan Johar for 'Devara Ka Jigra', he mentioned how she shot a film in the South and how it was different from Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming movie 'War 2', directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by
Aditya Chopra.
The 'RRR' star highlighted the significance of trusting his instincts while acting in front of the camera.
He emphasized his approach of going "beyond what was written" in a script, pushing creative boundaries. He also noted that many South Indian films are made amidst "chaos," as the cast and crew often give more than 100%, deviating from the original plan to deliver the best results. "Too much prep doesn't give you the chance to explore yourself. South Indian films have always been chaotically organized. Like, if the prints have to come tomorrow, the team will still ask for one extra hour because they want to make some changes in the edit. The clock is ticking, the prints have to be delivered, but you are still working on the film."

The actor further shared insights about the spontaneous approach often taken on the sets of South Indian films. He revealed that despite shooting intense sequences, the team tends to remain relaxed, with little preparation. The focus is on living in the moment, as everyone understands what needs to be done. He believes this apparent chaos actually leads to a greater sense of organization, making the actors more instinctive and enhancing their performances.
Jr NTR recalled his experience on the set of 'War 2', where he co-stars with Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani. He mentioned an instance when he encouraged director Ayan to trust his instinctive style, wanting to go beyond the planned script.
"This was the experience I had with Hindi cinema also. When I was shooting for 'War 2', Ayan did not know what was going to come because he was trying to bring it out from me; that's how this was going to come out," he described, recalling a moment when he expressed his instinctive approach to director Ayan, saying, "something will come." He noted that Ayan prefers thorough preparation, contrasting with his own spontaneous style. Aditya Chopra intervened, reassuring both of them by acknowledging their differing approaches and promoting a collaborative atmosphere.
'Devara: Part 1' by Koratala Siva will be out on September 27. Meanwhile, 'War 2' will be released in August 2025.
