NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday gifted a Delhi-Delaware silver train model to US President
Joe Biden and a pashmina shawl to first lady Jill Biden while his on his three-day US visit for Quad summit.
The vintage hand-engraved train model was made of 92.5% silver and crafted by artisans from Maharashtra.
Joe Biden welcomed the leaders of Australia, India, and Japan to his home in Wilmington, Delaware, aiming to solidify the alliance among the United States and Indo-Pacific nations during his fourth and final "Quad summit."
The gathering focused on strengthening ties and countering China's growing influence in the region.
Meanwhile, Biden had to face a hot mic blunder when he was caught making statements about China as the Quad members chose to stay away from making any direct references to the country.
"We believe Xi Jinping is looking to focus on domestic economic challenges and minimise the turbulence in China," he was heard saying.
An official, however, came to clarify saying, "I don't think I have much to elaborate on that. It's consistent with what has been said before, and I don't think it'll be much of a surprise that our inside voice matches our outside voice," the official said.
PM Modi is scheduled to address a UN 'Summit for Future' during his visit.
