New features coming with macOS Sequoia
Here’s a list of new features that have arrived with the macOS Sequoia update:
iPhone Mirroring: This feature makes working between iPhone and Mac seamless. Users can interact with their iPhones directly from their Mac, with custom wallpaper and app icons displayed as they are on the iPhone. They can swipe through the Home Screen, open apps, and respond to notifications without unlocking their iPhones, ensuring privacy. Additionally, iPhone Mirroring works with StandBy, allowing users to view information on their iPhones while using the feature on their Mac.
New Passwords App: The new Passwords app on macOS Sequoia provides a secure and convenient way to store and access passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi credentials, and more in one place. It features end-to-end encryption, works seamlessly with Safari, and syncs across all Apple devices and Windows through the iCloud for Windows app.
New features for Safari browser: The update introduces the new Highlights feature for the Safari browser which uses machine learning to provide quick access to directions, article summaries, and links to additional information about people, music, and media. The redesigned Reader feature in the browser offers a streamlined view with summaries and a table of contents for faster article reading. A new Viewer enhances video playback, giving users full control while keeping videos in focus. The Distraction Control feature allows users to hide distracting elements on web pages for a smoother browsing experience.
Easier window tiling: macOS Sequoia introduces new window management features that help users stay organised. By dragging a window to the edge of the screen, macOS suggests a tiled position for easy placement. Users can arrange windows side by side or in corners to keep multiple apps visible. Additionally, new keyboard and menu shortcuts enable faster tile organisation.
Video calling updates: macOS Sequoia enhances video calls by allowing users to apply custom backgrounds, including colour gradients, scenic views like Apple Park, or personal photos. Apple's advanced segmentation ensures users look their best on calls. Additionally, the new presenter preview feature lets users view their screen content before sharing it in apps like FaceTime and Zoom.
Apart from this, macOS Sequoia also brings new features for Messages, Notes and Maps apps.
