A new member has joined the office of UK prime minister Keir Starmer at Downing Street and it's none other than a charming Siberian kitten named
Prince. The adorable feline was recently spotted exploring the Prime Minister's desk just ahead of the Labour Party conference.
Starmer revealed that after "long summer negotiations," Prince was selected over his children's preference for a German shepherd.
The announcement of Prince's name came on September 8, though Starmer has not clarified whether it’s a nod to the famous singer or a reference to royalty.
While the choice has sparked some lighthearted jokes, the new pet has reportedly strengthened the Starmer family's bond as they adapt to life at Downing Street. Starmer mentioned, “This is a big move for them, and negotiating for a fantastic kitten called Prince was part of the deal.”
Amid this transition, discussions continue about the future of Larry, the beloved Chief Mouser at No 10 Known for his patrols and playful encounters with local wildlife, Larry has become a fixture at Downing Street, frequently stealing headlines with his antics, including his interactions with Palmerston, the Foreign Office cat, and a memorable showdown with a fox.
As the Starmer family settles in, it remains to be seen how well Prince, Larry, and the existing family cat Jojo will coexist.
