S Shankar has recently shared his aspirations to bring the revered Tamil novel 'Nava Yuga Nayagan Vel Paari' to the big screen during the promotional events for 'Indian 2'. Shankar revealed that he stumbled upon Su Venkatesan’s book during the pandemic-induced lockdown and quickly developed a deep admiration for its narrative.
However, in a recent revelation, Shankar voiced his displeasure regarding the unauthorized use of scenes from the novel by certain filmmakers.

Shankar took to his X handle to mention that as the copyright holder of the work, he would take
legal action against those who adapt concepts from it without authorization. “Attention to all! As the copyright holder of Su. Venkatesan's iconic Tamil novel 'Nava Yuga Nayagan Vel Paari', I'm disturbed to see key scenes being ripped off and used without permission in many movies. I'm really upset to see an important scene from the novel in a recent movie trailer. Kindly refrain from using scenes from the novel in movies, web series, and any medium. Respect creators' rights! Refrain from
unauthorized adaptations of scenes. Refrain from infringement or face legal action!”

Earlier in the promotional event for Kamal Haasan’s 'Indian 2', Shankar stated, "I read the highly acclaimed Velpari novel during the COVID lockdown and loved it very much. Immediately, I started to write it as a screenplay and completed it. I plan to make it a three-part film franchise."
S Shankar’s upcoming movie with Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, 'Game Changer', has wrapped up shooting and is gearing up for theatrical release. On the other hand, Shankar received much criticisms for his previous film 'Indian 2'.
