During a throwback interview with Mumbai Mirror, Aditya Pancholi accused Kangana of betraying him and shared his side of the story. He stated that in 2008, she owed him money for the financial assistance he had provided. He shared, “Some time back she called me to say she wanted money, about Rs 1 crore, to buy a house. I called up a banker-friend and stood as her guarantor and got her a loan of Rs 50 lakh. Then, I gave her Rs 55 lakh cash from my pocket. Of this, she has returned Rs 25 lakh. She still owes me Rs 30 lakh."
He further added, “We were as good as husband and wife. I was actually building a house for both of us on Yari Road. We lived together for three years at a friends' place. Kangana didn't have a penny when I met her. I saw her for the first time on the road. She was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. It was June 27, 2004. She was drenched, and sitting on a bike with a guy from the Asha Chandra Acting Institute... It was pouring. Suddenly, she came up and said a warm 'hi' to me. When she said she was 'Kangana', I remembered a mutual friend had asked me to help her when she reached Mumbai. After that Kangana started calling me up persistently until I agreed to meet her. Initially she was a sweet small town girl. I fell in love with her.”
Aditya had disclosed in the same interview how Kangana had become too close to another actor during the shooting of ‘Shakalaka Boom Boom’. Aditya acknowledged hitting her and said, “After she returned, I read her sent messages to another actor, while she was asleep. Her messages were certainly not innocent. And I remembered that the words she used for this actor were also used by her when she had called me from South Africa. That was the first time I hit her. We fought and made up."

Kangana had mentioned in numerous interviews how her former partner had physically assaulted and harassed her, but she had never taken a name. However, she had stated in an interview that the man she had been speaking about was Aditya Pancholi. The actress once talked about her relationship with Aditya and shared, "It was a very difficult and very harsh time. I was physically abused. I don’t have to go to details. I felt trapped. You feel people might help you. But there are no free lunches. But when you are going you fall for it. This man who was my father’s age hit me hard on my head when I was 17. I started bleeding. I took out my sandal and hit him head hard and he started to bleed too. I lodged an FIR against the man."
Aditya and Kangana eventually called it quits on their relationship after she had filed a complaint against him for physically abusing her. Aditya had accused her of cheating on her with Adhyayan and had gone back to his wife, Zarina Wahab.
On the work front, Kangana Ranaut's solo directorial debut ‘Emergency’ is still awaiting a release date after its initial release was delayed due to issues with censorship. Kangana essays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in this film.
