Panaji: Even as the southwest monsoon is on the brink of withdrawal from the Goa coast, the state is set to experience one last round of rainfall in the last week of Sep. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Sep 24, forecasting thunderstorms and lightning, with winds gusting between 30 to 40 km/h in isolated areas across Goa.

On this day, heavy rainfall is expected at several locations across the state, with very heavy downpours likely in isolated spots.
In anticipation of the preceding weather conditions, the IMD has also issued a yellow alert for Sep 23, forecasting moderate rainfall throughout the state.
From Sep 25 to 28, Goa can expect light to moderate rainfall, providing a gentle transition as the monsoon comes to a close.
Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions, especially during the predicted storms, as the state prepares for this final monsoon phase.
As of Sep 22, the state has recorded a seasonal total of 165 inches of rainfall.
