VIJAYAWADA: Hitting out at the previous YSRCP regime, Andhra Pradesh chief minister
N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday alleged that several procedures to procure ghee at Tirumala
Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) were altered during the earlier regime, prompting him to form a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the irregularities.
Addressing a press conference at his Undavalli residence, the CM said people's sentiments were hurt after the revelations with regard to laddu that animal fats were allegedly used to make them.
A high-level committee comprising Vaidik experts and priests will also be appointed to oversee the conduct of rituals, practices and customs of the temples.
Naidu alleged that Jagan had deliberately caused irreparable damage to the reputation of the Tirumala temple, adding that people voted for Jagan in 2019 to govern the state well and not play with sentiments of followers of the religion, in which he doesn’t have any faith.
“Sentiments of millions of devotees across the globe are hit due to YSRCP govt’s arrogance. Jagan is still trying to defend his ‘misdeeds’. He should tender an open apology to Hindus across the globe,” Naidu said.
Naidu said tender clauses were completely relaxed only to benefit a few select people favoured by then TTD board chairman.
