584 NLFT & ATTF militants surrender, join mainstream
Agartala: As many as 584 insurgents from National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) surrendered at the 7th Battalion Headquarters of Tripura State Rifles in Sepahijala district’s Jampuijala on Tuesday.
Following this, Tripura CM Manik Saha declared the state to be completely free from insurgency.
The event represents a significant milestone in Tripura’s journey towards lasting peace, which was further solidified by a peace accord signed on Sept 4 in New Delhi.

The accord, signed between the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and leaders of NLFT and ATTF, was witnessed by Union home minister Amit Shah and the chief minister.
During the arms-laying ceremony, prominent leaders of NLFT and ATTF, including Biswa Mohan Debbarma (president, NLFT BM), Parimal Debbarma (president, NLFT PD), Prasenjit Debbarma (president, NLFT ORI), and Alindra Debbarma (president, ATTF) surrendered AK-series rifles before the CM, symbolizing their commitment to peace.
The CM attributed the end of the long-standing insurgency in Tripura to the peace accord, emphasising its significance in the state’s path towards peace. He also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pivotal role in fostering development across the northeast, noting that the region, once plagued by terrorism, is now largely free from it, with 12 peace accords signed, three of which pertain to Tripura.
The CM proudly proclaimed Tripura’s freedom from terrorism, highlighting the joint efforts of the central and state governments in implementing numerous development programs aimed at uplifting the Janajati people.

The Border Guard of Bangladesh assured the BSF that a kidnapped Tripura youth would be released soon. Chelaphru Mog was abducted in Bangladesh while returning home with a valid passport and visa. His wife paid part of the ransom but sought police help after further demands. A miscreant involved has been arrested, and Mog is now in police custody.
