Man injured in wild bear attack in Tripura critical
Agartala: A man injured in a bear attack on Sunday is battling for his life. He has been identified as Pramit Kumar Reang, 34, from Kanchanpur in Tripura’s North district bordering Mizoram.
The incident took place around 5.30pm when Pramit was tending to his Jhum field and later ventured into a nearby forest to gather bamboo shoots. Family members said the bear attacked Pramit, inflicting severe injuries, particularly on his face ripping the flesh apart.

His piercing cries alerted his family, who rushed to his rescue. Pramit was initially taken to Kanchanpur hospital but was quickly transferred to Dharmanagar district hospital in a critical condition.
As the family’s sole breadwinner, Pramit’s injury has left them in a state of emotional and financial turmoil. His wife and three children are entirely dependent on his income from Jhum cultivation for their survival. Doctors are providing intensive care, working to stabilise Pramit despite the severity of his injuries.
