Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The crime branch of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar police arrested 60-year-old builder on the charge of raping a 27-year-old woman. The police have also found a video substantiating the allegations against the accused.
Police officials said that on multiple occasions, the builder's female employees have lodged complaints. An officer said the builder and his son were arrested by the economic offences wing of the city police in a cheating case registered against them for defrauding customers.
EOW arrested them on Aug 1. The builder remained behind bars for over 40 days, only and secured bail on Sept 10. Vedantnagar police station inspector Pravina Yadav confirmed that an FIR for rape has been registered based on the complaint lodged by a woman from Uttar Pradesh.
Police commissioner Pravin Pawar transferred the case to the crime branch, following which the accused was arrested on Saturday. Crime branch inspector Geeta Bagwade said the accused has been arrested and further formalities are underway.
"According to the victim, the accused raped her on four occasions since getting his bail. He allegedly committed the crime by threatening to eliminate the woman's husband and children," said a senior police officer.
