Supporters of Maratha, OBC activists come face to face, police intervene and beef up bandobust
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The situation turned tense in and around village Antarwali Sarati after supporters of Maratha and OBC activists came face to face near Wadigodri in the early hours of Saturday. They shouted slogans before police intervened and beefed up bandobust in the area.
OBC activist Laxman Hake blamed Maratha activists for intentionally reaching Wadigodri and shouting slogans.

"Despite the administration providing them with an alternative route to reach Antarwali Sarati, some of them arrived here and shouted slogans," Hake said, while blaming Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange for causing the defeat of Pankaja Munde and Mahadev Jankar by making the Marathas vote against the two.
Members of the Maratha community observed bandh in Beed and Dharashiv districts on Saturday to support activist Manoj Jarange's quota demand. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar's special inspector general of police Virendra Mishra said the day passed off without any violence or untoward incident in both the districts. The members of the Maratha community said they would observe a bandh in Jalna district on Sunday to support Jarange's indefinite hunger strike, which entered sixth day on Saturday.
Sources said other districts in the region were also mooting bandhs in support of Jarange and his demand of Maratha reservation from within the existing OBC quota.
Local residents said activist's supporters were pouring into the village in droves to support Jarange after his health deteriorated. He agreed to IV saline on the request of ministers Deepak Desarkar and Shambhuraj Desai. Addressing his supporters, Jarange said it appeared that state govt intended to cause tension between the OBCs and the Marathas. "If at all situation gets out of hand, Chhagan Bhujbal and Devendra Fadnavis will be responsible," he said, while extending his support to the Dhangar community's agitation in Pandharpur.
OBC activist Hake came down heavily on CM Eknath Shinde, besides Jarange. He also referred to Jarange as a ‘mentally ill person' and said, "If state govt is not ready to take cognisance of our demands and sufferings, we will not spare anyone, be it CM or Jarange," he said, adding that Jarange did not understand the law and the Constitution.
