BAREILLY: Police have arrested two men in Bareilly for allegedly blackmailing women and girls after befriending them on social media using fake identities. The accused, identified as Noshad (23) and Aman (23), would reportedly put these women in compromising situations and threaten to expose texts and videos if their demands were not met.
Residents of Chowki Karmachari Nagar brought the suspects to the police station on Thursday evening after observing them with two distressed girls.

Initially, the suspects gave their names as Rahul and Satish.
"Due to the suspicious circumstances, the residents brought the boys to the police station for questioning. During the interrogation, one of the suspects revealed that his true name is Noshad," the police said in a statement.
Their search led police to find five fake Aadhaar cards with different names and photos on Noshad, along with a mobile phone containing multiple Instagram accounts under false identities. These accounts were used for "inappropriate chats and video calls" with women, and explicit content was recorded.
Aman was found with three fake Aadhaar cards and a mobile phone containing nude videos and inappropriate chats. Investigation revealed the duo created fake identities to appear trustworthy and entrap women. They used Hindu names for Hindu girls and Muslim names for Muslim girls.
"They exploited social media platforms to lure unsuspecting women into compromising situations, threatening to release recorded content if the victims did not comply with their demands," said the police statement.
An FIR has been registered, and both accused have been booked for identity fraud and blackmail. They have been sent to jail by a local court.
