Bhubaneswar: Santrupt Misra, political secretary to
BJD president
Naveen Patnaik, on Tuesday hit out at the
BJP govt, saying changing the colour of the schemes won’t lead to development, working on the schemes will. Responding to the criticism, BJP said the BJD has become scared having seen the work the Mohan Majhi govt has done in the first 100 days.
Quoting the working paper of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM), Misra said, “In terms of per capita income,
Odisha is doing better compared to national average.
In 2001 it was 55.8%, by 2023-24 it had reached 88.5%. In terms of GDP contribution, Odisha is doing better compared to Punjab, Maharashtra and Delhi.”
He said that over the past 24 years, Odisha has transitioned from bankruptcy to economic stability. Giving credit to policies of the former BJD govt, Misra said, “While Naveen govt relentlessly worked for the development of Odisha for 8,860 days, the newly formed BJP govt is counting its success of the past 100 days.” Countering Misra’s claims, state BJP spokesperson Anil Biswal said, “Subhadra scheme is a completely new and not a name change. Paddy is being bought at Rs 3,100/quintal. Why are they not speaking about malnutrition, health parameters and unemployment during BJD rule.”
