Chandigarh: In an unprecedented move, UT director general of police (DGP) Surendra Singh Yadav has invited four constables to join him for breakfast at his official residence in Sector 5 on Monday.
The police department extended invitations to constables Nitish from Sector 3 police station, Abhishek Dogra from Maloya police station, Sushil Kumar posted at Sukhna lake police post, and Krishan Kumar from Daria police post.
The breakfast meeting serves as an opportunity for the DGP to listen to the challenges faced by the constables while carrying out their duties in the city. Additionally, he will seek their input on ways to enhance the effectiveness of policing in Chandigarh.
As part of this unique initiative to address the concerns of police personnel, DGP Yadav plans to meet with officers ranging from constables to sub-inspectors in the coming days. He had initially announced this plan during a 'Sampark sabha' with police officers in Aug.
The OSI branch of the UT police has been tasked with preparing lists of other potential cops to meet with the DGP over breakfast in the near future.
It is worth noting that DGP Yadav has also initiated meetings with the public to foster better police-public cooperation.
On September 19, he held the first such meeting at the Maloya community centre, where he listened to the problems and suggestions put forth by the people.
