Chandigarh: Two villages — Khudda Jassu and Khudda Lahora — in Chandigarh have reportedly been hit by diarrhoea. More than 40 diarrhoea patients have been reported from both places in just 48 hours.
Considering the seriousness of the situation, the municipal corporation team conducted a surprise inspection of the area and collected data of the patients.
Water samples from the houses where the patients were found have also been taken for testing.
While the UT health department has denied diarrhoea cases, the health centre and area councillor have confirmed it. “We have no reports of increased cases (of diarrhoea),” said Dr Suman Singh, director health services, UT.
Dr Tapas Sarkar, a private practitioner, confirmed that diarrhoea patients have been coming for the last two days. He has seen a total of 35 patients from Khudda Lahore and Khudda Jassu alone. He said this time the cases of diarrhoea have increased here. “On getting information about the case, the SDO came to his clinic on Friday. Water samples were taken from both places,” said Dr Tapas.
